"On Community and Collaboration" brings together a group of photographic artists who have interpreted this theme, and was selected in collaboration between Lily Colman of FRAME/SEQUENCE and Julia Reber of Da Vinci Art Alliance.

FRAME/SEQUENCE was started with the aim of creating community for photographic artists in and around Philadelphia, and to see how artists are able to draw inspiration and collaborate with each other. Founding Frame/Sequence would not have been possible without the support of so many existing institutions, and DVAA is one of them.

As an artist member of DVAA, F/S Founder Lily Colman proposed to curate an exhibition of photographic work in partnership with the Da Vinci team. To celebrate our collaboration, and both of our focuses as community institutions, we decided that "On Community and Collaboration" was the perfect theme for this exhibition.

Each artist has thoughtfully responded with their concepts of what makes community, and how they think about collaboration as artists. The communities and partnerships we form in a deeply divided and unsettled society have become more important than ever, and we appreciate the opportunity to work together to highlight artists who focus on the importance of their communities, and what it means to work with others in a world that is constantly dividing us.
