Submission Guidelines
-
We welcome submissions from underrepresented and emerging photographers, writers, artists, and community members (from Philadelphia and Greater Pennsylvania).
We especially encourage submissions from former University of the Arts students (currently enrolled elsewhere who were forced to transfer) and professors. We want to support those who have had to leave the region due to the school’s closure, but were and are a vital part of our arts community.
-
We accept photography, creative writing (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction), visual art, mixed media, and community-focused projects. All visual art MUST incorporate photography in some way.
We're interested in work that tells authentic stories and connects art with place and community.
-
While the topic of the work doesn’t necessarily have to be specifically about Pennsylvania (as each issue has its own theme), we focus on work that reflects the experiences, stories, and communities of Philadelphia and Greater Pennsylvania. This can include work created in the region, about the region, or by artists who call this area home.

Writing submissions:
Include written submissions as Word docs or PDFs
Image submissions:
HIGH-RESOLUTION JPEG files are required for printing to ensure quality:
Each file submitted through Google Forms must not exceed 10 MB
If your accepted submission is smaller than 300dpi, we’ll contact you to request high-resolution JPEG files
240dpi is acceptable for printing, though 300dpi is best quality
-
There is no submission fee. FRAME/SEQUENCE believes in removing financial barriers to participation in the arts community.
-
Submissions for our first edition are being accepted from June 20th - July 18th, 2025.
The inaugural issue will be released in September, 2025.
-
You may submit between 5 - 10 images per edition. We accept previously published work as long as you retain the rights to republish. Please note where work has been previously published in your submission.
-
The submission form will ask for your permission to publish your work.
If your work is selected for publication, we'll ask you to sign an official document via DocuSign outlining your rights and requirements for publishing. Artists keep full ownership and all rights to their work and may continue to use, sell, or publish it elsewhere. The form allows us to include your work in our publication.
-
Only if your work is accepted.
A one time cash award will be paid out per piece accepted.
A royalty will be apportioned based on level of contribution, and paid out of a shared royalty pool through CultureTrust, our fiscal sponsor.
