The March 2027 Periodical Theme is:
“On the
Destruction of Art”
Submissions are open
September 15th - November 15th, 2026
Theme Description:
What does it mean to exist in an age of cultural and societal destruction? How do artists continue to create in these environments, and how do we as a society respond to the destruction of art? How does our role as artists change in response?
In issue 4, FRAME/SEQUENCE asks artists and writers to respond to these difficult and weighty questions, looking back to history, as well as sharing their own experiences of the present.
Do you make art using destruction as a tool to talk about trauma, war, or other societal ills? Do you write about art in society and culture through a historical and/or contemporary lens discussing art’s debasement, degradation, or commodification? Do you use methods of destruction or ephemerality in your art as a way to discuss rupture and/or renewal?
We are looking for artists and writers from all backgrounds: from those on the ground photographing in real time, to more artistic photographic and written interpretations, as well as those from an art historical (and contemporary) perspective.
